Greetings to everyone.

Only three weeks until the big weekend 😀. We hope excitement is building for those of you who have already entered. Those who have not yet entered… no reason to wait until the last minute as the “early bird” discount ends on the 18th August. Enter now via the attached form (with EFT payment), or enter at Target Line and stock up on the essentials while you are there.

Many thanks to our regular and new sponsors for their generous donation of prizes, facilities and assistance for the event. Some of the fantastic prizes up for grabs include a high end Horizon fly rod, reel and fly lines, a number of trips to exciting fly fishing destinations, a Ark Dragonfly kick boat, gift vouchers and other great fly fishing and outdoor gear. Don’t forget to bring some extra cash for raffles and the ever popular side bets 😉.

Not forgetting the two tagged fish which might earn a skilled (or lucky angler) R10,000 or R20,000!!

Much effort has been put into organising an event that we are sure entrants, family and friends will enjoy. To round off the event, Saturday night promises to be something not to be missed with a mouth-watering spit braai meal (many thanks to Donald Kemp and Getaway Trailers for this), live music starring our very own Dean “slowhand” Stoltz and the swapping of tales and catching up with old friends.

So go dust off your camping and fishing gear, stock up on flies and tippet material and come have a great time while supporting the club.

Welcome to the Amatola Fly Fishing Club website.

In brief, the Amatola Fly Fishing Club (AFFC) was formed in 2013 through the amalgamation of one of the oldest fishing clubs in South Africa, the Frontier Acclimatisation Society (circa 1894), and the Stutterheim Trout Angling club. Trout have existed for more than a century in the Amatola region and the AFFC seeks to manage trout waters and promote fly fishing in general in the region.

The club currently manages and administers the trout fishing in Gubu, Maden, and Mnyameni dams. The fishing is open to club members and also to the public through a day-ticket system. Gubu Dam has self catering accommodation that is open only to members and their hosted guests. Non-member interest or activity groups (e.g. other fishing clubs, school groups, event groups, social groups, etc.) may request use of the clubhouse by sending an e-mail to Member and public access to other waters is also facilitated by the club.

We hope you find the info you are looking for on our website, but if not, please engage with the relevant contact person listed below.
